MoHUA Holds Virtual Consultation with States on Best Practices of Street Vending Haat Models

A virtual meeting was held on 15th July 2025 under the chairmanship of Shri Parag Gavali, Deputy Secretary (PM SVANidhi), co-chaired by Shri Rajesh Kumar, GM (SIDBI). The Centre for Sustainable Urban Livelihoods (CSUL) presented successful vending haat models and innovative practices.

Representatives from all States/UTs shared experiences, challenges, and suggestions. The consultation served as a step towards structured vending haat development, ensuring inclusive, well-managed vending spaces for dignified livelihoods.

Lalkuan, Uttarakhand, Shines at Swachh Survekshan 2024

Nagar Panchayat Lalkuan, Uttarakhand, won the First Prize at the state level and was recognised nationally as a “Promising Swachh City.”

The success is attributed to the men-led SHG ‘Gulmohar’, under DAY-NULM. Launched in June 2024, the SHG operates a waste collection model, covering costs such as fuel, driver, and maintenance. Income is generated via user charges from 1,035 households and sale of recyclables, ensuring cost-free waste management and sustainable livelihoods.

MEPMA’s LEAP Workshop – Andhra Pradesh

Held on 15th July 2025 in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh. Attended by Shri S. Suresh Kumar (IAS), Shri N. Tej Bharat (IAS), Shri Vinod Kumar, and Project Directors. The workshop focused on strengthening household-level entrepreneurship, covering business identification, market access, and digital integration.

MEPMA aims to nurture 30,000 entrepreneurs in 2025–26, with Phase-2 audits underway in collaboration with the India SME Forum.
